If This is Sobriety

Wow. If this is sobriety – I want it.

Awake at 5am because I had slept enough – Not because my hangover was kicking in.

Spoke to The Boy clearly and consciously this morning – And I remember everything we said, we didn’t end up fighting and it was good.

Walked Sparkles (my dog) for 30 minutes because I should – Rather than not going because I was hungover and needed to rest before going to work.

The desire to drink last night was strong – so strong I called my sponsor and talked it through then made myself do Steps 1 & 2 again as revision. And didn’t drink. Somehow.

So if this is sobriety – it will only get better in many, many ways – I will be trying to hold onto it.

  2. I know I’m new to your blog, but I just want to let you know that one of my close family members had to overcome an addiction too, and by the looks of it, you’re definitely on the right path! I know it can be hard at times, but just keep trucking and keep that final goal in mind everyday; sobriety. You can do it!!

  3. It gets SO much better it isn’t even funny!

(that is a really stupid saying by the way…)

Really, the other side of this is Fantastical!

YOU made a Huge step! Calling your sponsor is the meat of it

‘we use the steps, we use the phone….’

    Yes we do!

You used the phone once, next time will be that much easier.

I feel giddy with happiness for you!!!

Thank you SO much for sharing your journey with us. I for one am honored.

    XO Jen

  4. Great going! What you wrote about is exactly what everyone (and i) should give thanks for every day … those little things that go right each day … the “coherent” conversations, waking up early without a headache, or hangover (or food hangover) … you rock!
